Xianhua Chen is a full-time professor at Southeast University and First Prize Winner of the Jiangsu Provincial Graduate Education Reform Achievements. He is a member of the China Highway and Transportation Society, an editing board member of the Journal of Innovative Infrastructure Solutions, and a visiting scholar of UIUC and U. Texas (2008.08), RWTH-AACHEN (2008.10-2009.10, 2012.12-2013.02), and TU Delft (2011.07-08). He was honored with the Six Talent Peaks, awarded by the Jiangsu Provincial government. He originated the CN-EU Workshop on Functional Pavement (CEW) and acted as organizing chair of the 1st CEW (2010, Nanjing) and vice-chair of the 5th CEW (2018, Changsha). He is also an active fellow in deck pavements and acted as the chair of the pre-symposium workshop on advanced measurement and characterization of deck pavements (2012, Nanjing). His research interests include advanced transportation infrastructure materials, asphalt concrete roadbeds and waterproofing systems for high-speed railways, pavement surface characteristics, functional pavement, and vehicle–road interaction.
Wei Huang is a Professor, Ph.D. Advisor, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and expert in road, bridge, and traffic engineering. He obtained his doctorate in July 1982 from the Nanjing Institute of Technology (Southeast University). Huang Wei is one of the main pioneers in the field of steel bridge deck pavement for long-span bridges and intelligent transportation systems in China. He is the inventor of novel multi-component epoxy asphalt materials in China. He led the design and construction implementation of the steel bridge deck pavement for nearly 30 large-span bridges, such as the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel Bridge, Sutong Yangtze River Bridge, and Hangzhou Bay Bridge. In addition, he has achieved important innovations in the theory and application of pavement design. His research results on pavement design indicators and parameters, fatigue analysis methods of pavement materials based on energy consumption principle, simplified pavement calculations, and pavement optimization design methods have perfected the theory and method of pavement design in China.
