Dr. Shadi Beshai received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology
from the University of Calgary in 2015, where he also earned his M.Sc. in
Clinical Psychology in 2010. Dr. Beshai is an Associate Professor in the
Department of Psychological Science at Kennesaw State University and the Mindfulness Engagement and Cultural Adaptation (MECA) Lab director. His
research focuses on expanding access to evidence-based treatments for adult
depression and anxiety through the cultural adaptation and dissemination of
cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based interventions. He has led and
collaborated on several large-scale randomized trials across Canada, the UK,
and Iran, targeting various populations including educators, law enforcement
officers, and Indigenous communities. His work has been funded by the Canadian
Institute of Health Research (CIHR) and the Saskatchewan Health Research
Foundation (SHRF).
Matea is a second year Master of Science in Clinical Psychology student at the University of Regina. Her research is primarily within the field of child and adolescent health psychology, specifically chronic illness, and how it impacts them and their families. She also looks at mental health literacy broadly. Her research has been funded by the Canadian Behavioural Interventions and Trials Network (CBITN) and Saskatchewan Centre for Patient-Oriented Research (SCPOR).
