Vítor Viegas (M’16, SM’22) was born in Portugal in 1976. He received his degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico/ Universidade Técnica de Lisboa in 1999, followed by MSc and PhD degrees in 2003 and 2012, respectively. He works as an Assistant Professor at the Portuguese Naval Academy and as an Invited Adjunct Professor at the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal. He is also affiliated to the Instituto de Telecomunicações as a Researcher. His research interests concern electronic instrumentation, measurement systems, and industrial informatics. He has been involved in research projects financed by the Portuguese State and the European Union. His publication record includes dozens of publications in peer-reviewed indexed journals and international conferences. He has been elevated to an IEEE Senior Member and received the naval medal “Vasco da Gama” in recognition of his service to the Portuguese Navy.
