Prof. Dr. S M Nurul Amin was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2008. After his PhD, he continued his career at that university, first as a postdoctoral researcher, followed by positions as Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor. He was an International Professor at the World Fisheries University (WFU) in Busan, South Korea, between March 2020 and August 2021. Currently, he is an adjunct professor at Curtin University's Miri campus in Malaysia and a Research Associate at the Perth campus in Australia. Dr Amin's areas of expertise are population dynamics and stock assessment of tropical fish and shellfish species. In recent years, he has focused on aquaculture production systems, especially biofloc systems for shrimp farming. Dr Amin is incredibly productive, with 220 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, 25 in proceedings, 76 conference abstracts, 11 chapters, and 8 books. Dr Amin supervised 55 and co-supervised 35 students (from BSc to PhD). He completed 20 research projects as a project leader, with a total budget of approximately USD 1,000,000.00, and participated in an additional 28 projects as a team member. He was an active consultant to overseas universities and WorldFish, conducting community and industrial projects both as a leader and as a team member. These projects primarily focused on sustainable fisheries resource management.
