Author Biographies

Rocco De Marco received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the UNICAM University (Camerino, Italy) in 2006. He has worked as a computer scientist at the Italian National Research Council since 2005, actually at the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Biotechnologies. His research topics mainly include data analysis, digital signal processing, deep learning, marine monitoring devices, and/or their applications.
Dr. Francesco Di Nardo is Staff Scientist at the Department of Information Engineering, Università Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona, Italy. He completed his PhD studies in Artificial Intelligence Systems at the Università Politecnica delle Marche in 2005. He achieved his National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for the Academic Position of Associate Professor in the domain of Bioengineering in 2018 and Physical Activity and Sport Science in 2017. He has published more than 150 publications, including full papers in referred international journals, chapters in international books, and conference papers, and serves as Associate Editor for the journals Scientific Data and Innovation and Research in BioMedical engineering (IRBM). His teaching disciplines include models and control of biological systems and medical informatics, and his interests include biomedical signal and image processing, artificial intelligence for interpretation of biomedical signals and images, marine and underwater robotics, identification and modelling, and educational robotics.
Alessandro Rongoni received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and Automation from Università Politecnica delle Marche in 2023 and is currently completing his Master's degree in Computer Engineering and Automation at the same university. He has published research works in the field of artificial intelligence and deep learning. His research interests mainly include artificial intelligence, deep learning, and their applications.
Dr. Laura Screpanti is a Research Fellow at the Department of Education, Cultural Heritage and Tourism, University of Macerata, and a Contract Professor at the Engineering Faculty, Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM). She earned her PhD in Information Engineering (Computer Science, Management, and Automation Engineering) from UNIVPM. She has contributed to research projects such as RoboPisces, RoboAquaria, ETECH, and DiveSafe, focusing on model identification, educational robotics, marine robotics, and artificial agents. Her teaching covers modeling and optimization for industrial processes and communication aids, while her research interests include educational robotics, AI in education, STEM learning, and automation.
Prof. Scaradozzi is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Information Engineering (DII) of the Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM), Ancona, Italy. He is the head of the LabMACS and a scientific member of the Italian InterUniversity Center for the Marine Environment (ISME) scientific board, where he cooperates with the Italian Navy and NATO. Currently, he is a member of the UNIVPM’s Senate, coordinator of the UNIVPM’s International Relations and Networking board, mobility Delegate of the Engineering Faculty at UNIVPM, and CRUI UNIVPM’s Delegate for International Cooperation in Developing Countries. He is the author of about 135 publications in refereed international journals, books, and conferences, and was awarded the Gold Trident from the International Academy of Underwater Sciences and Techniques for his outstanding work in the field of underwater robotics.
