Author Biographies

Francesco De Paola holds a degree in Civil Engineering (1997) and a Ph.D in Hydraulic Engineering (2002) from the University of Napoli Federico II, where he’s currently associate professor (qualified for full professorship) of water engineering. He was visiting research fellow at the Pace University New York in 2009. He has contributed more than 100 papers in peer reviewed international journals (google scholar H-index=25) and he is one of the Editors of “Water Supply” (IWA). In 2019 he got a 225 k€ Award for research project MATCAS from the Ministry of the Environment of Italy. His scientific interests include the characterization of river networks and streamflow regimes, the analysis of water resources management, climate change adaptation measures, hydrological modeling, and BIM for Hydraulic Infrastructures.
Giuseppe Speranza graduated in Civil Engineering (2012) from the University of Napoli Federico II, where he is currently a research fellow at the Department of Civil, Building, and Environmental Engineering (DICEA) as part of the research program titled: Hydraulic risk mitigation through first-flush tanks and detention basins. He has conducted research activities at the Interdepartmental Research Center Environment (CIRAM) at the University of Napoli Federico II as part of the Life+Ecoremed project. He collaborated with the Analysis and Monitoring of Environmental Risk Center (AMRA), carrying out scientific activities within the METROPOLIS project. He also conducted research as a scholarship holder at the Department of Agriculture, University of Napoli Federico II. His scientific interests include the analysis of water resource management, climate change adaptation measures, hydrological and hydraulic modeling.
