Author Biographies

Kyujin Lee received his doctoral degree in Transportation from Ajou University in 2009. He works as a research professor at the Center for TOD-based Sustainable Urban Transportation at Ajou University (2009~current). His research topics mainly include data-based transportation planning and transportation environments.

Jaeho Kwak received his master's degree in Automatic Control in Mechanical Engineering from the POSCO Technology Research Institute and worked in the rolling control field there from 1992 to 1998. He received his doctorate in the Braking of Electric Vehicles from PURDUE University in 2005 and is currently working at the Korea Railroad Research Institute. Since 2009, he has been working as the national project manager for a project involving battery-powered catenary-free trams, and he is leading the introduction of trams to Korea by not only developing technology but also creating laws and systems. In particular, he established a Korean standard by verifying not only vehicles but also the entire embedded track, signals, and communications through the construction of a test line. This was a decisive turning point in the introduction of trams to Korea. Recently, he has been leading the introduction of tram–trains as well as trams and is actively conducting research in the field of autonomous driving.
Gyoseok Jeon received his M.S. degree in Transportation Engineering from Ajou University in 2011 and earned his Ph.D. in Transportation Planning from the same university in 2016. He is currently a research professor at the Center for TOD-based Sustainable Urban Transportation at Ajou University. His primary research interests include smart mobility planning and evaluation based on demand forecasting and travel behavior modeling, public transportation planning, and transportation infrastructure investment assessment. Dr. Jeon has been actively involved in national research projects and advisory activities related to transportation infrastructure investment evaluation for central government agencies. He also contributes to urban transportation system assessments, improvement planning for local governments, and transportation investment consulting for private-sector infrastructure projects. He holds lifetime memberships of both the Korean Society of Transportation and the Korean Society for Railway, in which he also previously served as the Director of Academic Affairs.
