Dr. Peng Dong is an associate professor and master’s supervisor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Taiyuan University of Technology. He holds a bachelor’s degree in material forming and control engineering (welding direction) and a master’s and doctoral degree in material processing engineering (welding direction) from Jilin University. He was a visiting scholar at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Tennessee. His main research direction is the welding of advanced materials, including (1) friction stir welding of transportation equipment, (2) photowelding of nano-functional devices, and (3) electron microscopy of the fine structure of welded joints. He is a member of the Advanced Welding and Joining Professional Committee of the China Nonferrous Metals Society. He has taught two undergraduate courses: “Foreign Language for Welding Engineering” and “Physical Chemistry of Materials”. He presided over the completion of one National Natural Science Foundation project, one Shanxi Natural Science Foundation project, and five horizontal projects. He has published more than 30 academic papers and authorized 10 national invention patents.
