John Taden is a political economist and an assistant professor of international studies at Pepperdine University whose research lies at the intersection of globalization, geopolitics, climate change, and institutional development. Substantively, his scholarship addresses critical issues such as the environmental implications of
clean energy transitions, the reliability of green growth indicators, and voter behavior in transitional democracies. His work also explores how natural resource wealth, climate change, and global forces such as social media and foreign aid influence democratic institutions and economic outcomes, particularly in Africa, south of the Sahara.
John Taden pursues an interdisciplinary approach that draws on large cross-national datasets and blends empirical rigor with policy relevance, contributing to broader conversations on governance, sustainable development, and institutional resilience in both developing and developed contexts.
