Dr. Luxon Nhamo is a Research Manager with the Water Research Commission of South Africa (WRC), specialising in agricultural water management and transformative and circular approaches for sustainable climate change adaptation. Formerly with the International Water Management Institute (IWM), Dr. Nhamo is also an Honorary Researcher with the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in South Africa. Dr. Nhamo prides himself on working with and transforming the livelihoods of vulnerable smallholder farmers in marginalised areas. He has more than 25 years of progressive research experience spanning three continents (South America, Europe, and Southern Africa). He has published over ninety internationally peer-reviewed research articles. His research interests include agricultural water management (AWM), the water–energy–food (WEF) nexus, transformative and circular approaches, environmental GIS, remote sensing, and climate change adaptation.
Prof. Dr. Sylvester Mpandeli is the Executive Manager of Water Utilisation in Agriculture, Water Research Commission, South Africa, and has more than 22 years of working experience managing research and development and innovation across the agriculture, water, and environmental sectors. He has published more than 136 scientific papers, books, book chapters, technical reports, and conferences/workshops focusing on agricultural water management, climate change adaptation. He holds a B.Sc. (Agronomy and Soil Science) from the University of Venda (1997), B. Inst Agrar (Hons) (Horticulture) from the University of Pretoria (1998), B. Inst Agrar (Hons) (Land Use Planning) from the Univ. of Pretoria (2003), M. Inst Agrar (Irrigation and Agronomy) from the University of Pretoria (2001), and he became a Doctor of Philosophy in Climatology from the University of Witwatersrand in 2006. He has been very active in ICID activities for the last 10 years, was Chairman of the African Regional Working Group, and is a member of the ICID Permanent Committee on Strategy and Organization (PCSO). He is also a Registered Agricultural Scientist under the category of Professional Natural Scientist in terms of Section 11 of the Natural Scientific Profession Act, 1993.

Dr. Tafadzwanashe Mabhaudhi is a Professor of Climate Change, Food Systems, and Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham (Malaysia) and the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in South Africa. He is also the Lead of the Water–Energy–Food–Environment Nexus for the United Nations University, Institute for Water, Environment, and Health. He holds a B.Sc. Agriculture Honours in Crop Science from the University of Zimbabwe, an M.Sc. in Agric. Crop Science, and a PhD in Crop Science from UKZN. He has experience in research, development, capacity building, and building partnerships across academia, public and private sectors, civil society, and communities. Tafadzwa has experience initiating, developing, leading, and carrying out research for development on sustainable food systems, global environmental change, and the water–energy–food nexus using multi- and transdisciplinary approaches. He has experience with project development, including donor engagement, applying good project management practices, and disseminating research results to key knowledge users and constituencies.
