Dr. Rafael Roesler is a Full Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, Institute for Basic Health Sciences, and Head of the Cancer and Neurobiology Laboratory at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. He received a B.Sc. in Biophysics, M.Sc. in Biochemistry, and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in 1995, 1996, and 1999, respectively. He completed postdoctoral training in neurobiology at the University of California, Irvine, in 2001. His current research interests include brain tumor biology, pediatric cancers, and cancer neuroscience.

Dr. Caroline de Farias is a Director at the Children's Cancer Institute (ICI). She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Universidade Luterana do Brasil (ULBRA), a Master’s degree (MSc) in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), and a PhD degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Furthermore, she is a Professor of the Postgraduate program in Maternal and Child Health at IPPMG/UFRJ, a Collaborating professor of the Postgraduate Program in Biological Sciences: Pharmacology and Therapeutics (UFRGS), a Founding Partner and research and development director at the company Ziel Biosciences Pesquisa, Desenvolvimento e Diagnóstico LTDA, a Juror at the Young Innovator Prize – BRICS, a Coordinator of the Latin American Committee on Biological Material in Ewing’s sarcoma and a Member of the Management Committee of the National Institute of Science and Technology in the Biology of Childhood Cancer and Pediatric Oncology-INCT BioOncoPed. Her research interests include pediatric oncology, Ewing’s sarcoma, neurotrophins and neuropeptides, biomarkers, tumor resistance, women’s health, cervical cancer, and entrepreneurship.
