Dr. Eduardo Gómez-Luna holds a PhD in Engineering from
the Universidad del Valle, Colombia and is a Researcher of the GRALTA research
group of the Universidad del Valle. Doctor Gómez’s areas of interest are as
follows: smart grids, microgrids, DER, digital substations, real-time
simulations, frequency response analysis, transformers, applied mathematics,
power electronics, signal processing, and power systems. Doctor Gómez has one
(1) patent registered in Colombia and Spain regarding the supervision and
monitoring of transformers using the frequency response technique (FRA). He is
currently a professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at
the Universidad del Valle.
Prof. Dr. Juan C. Vasquez received a Ph.D. in Automatic Control, Robotics, and Computer Vision from the Technical University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain, in 2009. He was with the Autonomous University of Manizales working as a Teaching Assistant and the Technical University of Catalonia as a Post-Doctoral Assistant in 2005 and 2008, respectively. In 2011, he was an Assistant Professor, and from 2014 to 2019, he was an Associate Professor with the Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, Denmark. Currently, he is a Professor and the Co-Director of the Center for Research on Microgrids—CROM. His current research interests include operation, advanced hierarchical and cooperative control, optimization, and energy management applied to distributed generation in AC/DC microgrids, maritime microgrids, advanced metering infrastructures, and the integration of the Internet of Things into smart grids. Prof. Dr. Juan C. Vasquez is currently a member of the IEC System Evaluation Group SEG4 on LVDC Distribution and Safety for use in Developed and Developing Economies, the Renewable Energy Systems Technical Committee TC-RES in IEEE Industrial Electronics, and the PELS, IAS, and PES societies.
