Dr. Vicky K. Yang is an Associate Professor at the
Department of Clinical Sciences, Tufts University. She received a bachelor’s
degree in 1997 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Ph.D. in
Electronic Materials in 2002 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a D.V.M.
in Vet Medicine in 2009 from the Tufts-Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, USA. Her research
topics mainly include mitral valve prolapse, biomarkers for
cardiovascular diseases, therapeutic and diagnostic potentials of microRNA in
cardiovascular disease, cardio-oncology, the epigenetics of feline and canine heart
diseases, and translational animal models.
Dr. Howard H. Chen is an associate professor of medicine and a principal investigator at the Molecular Cardiology Research Institute, Tufts Medical Center. He received his bachelor’s degree
from Brandeis University, USA, in 1999, and he earned his Ph.D. from Boston
College, USA, in 2008. From 2009 to 2016, he was a
postdoctoral fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School,
USA. His research focuses on developing molecular imaging contrast agents to
investigate cell death processes, namely apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagy, in
the in vivo environment. He further devises novel therapeutic strategies that tilt the balance between cell death and survival pathways.
