Author Biographies

Gisela Granena is a Professor in the Arts and Humanities Department at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. She holds a Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Maryland, an M.A. in Intercultural Communication from the same university, and a Postgraduate degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from the University of Barcelona. Her research focuses on cognitive individual differences in both instructed (computer-mediated) and naturalistic SLA contexts, aptitude–treatment interactions, task-based language teaching (TBLT), measures of implicit and explicit second language knowledge, and the effects of early and late bilingualism on long-term L2 achievement.
