Barathan Muttiah is a postdoctoral research fellow at the National University of Malaysia with expertise in pharmacology, cancer biology, immunology, microbiome, infectious diseases, and extracellular vesicles. He holds a Ph.D. in pharmacology and cancer biology from the University of Malaya, where his doctoral research focused on the anticancer activity of hyperforin extract from St John’s Wort against breast cancer cells. With a master's degree in medical science specializing in immunology, infectious disease, and medical microbiology, he has conducted studies on immune impairment in chronic Hepatitis C virus infection. He earned his bachelor of science degree with honors in biotechnology from Aimst University, where his research involved the construction of recombinant plasmids and the expression of proteins. Additionally, he has been actively involved in studying the role of the microbiome and extracellular vesicles in various biological processes, including cancer progression and therapeutic applications.
