Author Biographies

Dr. Chukwuebuka Chukwujindu Okafor is a researcher affiliated with the University of Nigeria, where he has contributed significantly to the field of environmental science and geohazards from 2020 to 2023. His academic pursuits focus on the assessment and management of environmental risks, particularly in the context of subsidence and waste management in Nigeria. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Nigeria - Enugu Campus. In addition to his focus on subsidence, Okafor has explored the environmental implications of waste management practices in Nigeria, as evidenced by his research on emissions from open-burning municipal solid waste, published in AIMS Environmental Science. His scholarly contributions extend to discussions on energy transitions, where he advocates for a shift away from fossil fuels in emerging economies, a topic he addressed in his 2021 article in AIMS Energy. His research has garnered support from esteemed organizations, including the National Science Foundation and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. His fields of interest are waste management, renewable energies, and disaster risk and climate change management.
Prof. Dr. Christian N. Madu is a professor at the Lubin School of Business, Pace University. He received a BS in Industrial Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1979, an MBA in Operations Research and an MS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of New Haven in 1981, an MBA in Management Planning Systems from City University of New York-Baruch College in 1984, an MPhil in Business and a PhD in Management Science from City University of New York in 1985. In 2017, he was appointed by the United States Department of State – CDRF as the Lead Subject Matter Expert to run training on chemical safety and security in the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. He served as editor of the International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management for 20 years. He was also the Topic Editor of Environmental Decision Making, Encyclopedia of Earth (National Society for Environment, USA) in 2006. His research interests include modeling and simulation, statistical data analysis, maintenance, environmental planning, metamodeling, decision support, manufacturing systems, and quality management.
Dr. Adaobi Nwoye is a lecturer in the Department of Continuing Education and Development Studies at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). She received a Master's degree in Environmental Adult Education from the University of Port Harcourt and a Ph.D. in Community Development from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Her passion for education and community engagement extends beyond the classroom. She is the visionary convener of the Dabota Book Club Enugu, where she nurtures a thriving community of readers and thinkers. Additionally, she is the founder of the Coal City Literary Forum, a dynamic initiative that celebrates and promotes literary excellence in Enugu. Her research interests include community development, community empowerment, and reliability.
