María José Dus Santos holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires (1997) and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the same university (2001).
She has been a researcher at INTA (2005–present) and an Independent Researcher at CONICET (2015–present). Currently, she serves as Area Coordinator and Technical Director of the Virological and Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory at the Virology Institute, part of the Center for Veterinary and Agronomic Research (INTA).
In addition, she is the Coordinator of the Disciplinary Project “Development and Application of Diagnostic and Epidemiological Methodologies for Sustainable Production with a One Health Focus,” within INTA’s project portfolio.
She is also a professor and researcher at the National University of Hurlingham, in the Institute of Biotechnology, and serves as Coordinator of the Scientific Virology Committee within the Argentine Association of Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories.
Her research has focused on animal virology, particularly in the development of next-generation vaccines for viral diseases and the application of biotechnological tools for diagnosing viruses of veterinary interest. Her work involves the study of viral agents affecting cattle, sheep, and bees.
