Maria João Santos Barata received her Bachelor's degree in Orthoptics from the Lisbon School of Health Technology in 2014, followed by a Master's degree in Health Technology Assessment and Management in 2018. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Health and Wellbeing Sciences and Technologies at the University of Évora and NOVA University Lisbon. Since 2015, she has worked as an Orthoptist at the São José Local Health Unit in Lisbon and also serves as an Assistant Lecturer in the Orthoptics and Vision Sciences program at the Lisbon School of Health Technology. Her research interests include vision sciences, binocular vision, dry eye, and digital eye strain.
