Hugo Algarvio has an MSc in Electrical and
Computer Engineering and a PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems from Instituto
Superior Técnico under the MIT Portugal program. He is a researcher at LNEG.
His main research interests concern using multi-agent technology to model and
simulate present and future electricity markets and market agent behaviors. The
focus of his research has been on retail markets in areas such as bilateral
contracting, demand response, coalitions of consumers, optimization of retailers’
portfolios and risk management as well as, more recently, on wholesale markets
by modeling variable renewable technologies and developing new bidding strategies and market products for
their market integration.
