Prof. Dr. David P. Casper currently serves as Adjunct
Professor at North Carolina A&T University and Affiliated Professor at
Colorado State University while managing a contract research facility at
Casper’s Calf Ranch, LLC. He earned his B.S. from the University of
Wisconsin-Platteville in 1983, followed by an M.S. in 1985 and a Ph.D. in 1989
from South Dakota State University. Throughout his career, he has held various
positions, including roles at USDA-ARS, Cargill (1994), Agri-King (1997),
Director (2003), Vice President (2006), Furst-McNess (2016–2019), and
Grain-States Soya (2020–2021). From 2011 to 2016, he returned to academia,
conducting research and teaching undergraduate and graduate students, drawing
on his extensive industry experience. His notable achievements include
receiving the ADSA Richard M. Hoyt Award, the 2012 Pioneer Hi-Bred Forage
Award, ASAS-Fellow, and three Founder’s Awards from Agri-King, Inc. Additionally,
he has actively contributed to numerous Industry, ASAS, and ADSA committees,
serving as the Overall Program Chair for the 2011 JAM (the first industry
professional to hold this role), Midwest-ADSA President, ASAS Foundation Chair,
ASAS Board of Directors (BOD) member, ASAS Executive BOD member, and Dairy Calf
and Heifer Association.
