Gabrielle Lapping-Carr holds an MD degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She completed her Residency at the University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center and Fellowship at the University of Chicago Medicine. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago. She is an active researcher who developed the Chicago Sickle Cell Research Group with her colleagues. As part of this group, she has established an extensive database of samples from patients with sickle cell anemia at different key points during the disease. Her goal is to understand the variation in lung pathology across people with sickle cell disease in order to provide personalized care to those at higher risk and develop novel therapies. Her clinical interests include childhood leukemia, cytopenias and other marrow disorders, lymphoma, pediatric CAR TCell Therapy, and sickle cell disease. She also is interested in endothelial cells and exosomes.
