Evangelia Karasmanaki received her Ph.D. from the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. She is affiliated with the Department of Forestry and Management of the Environment and Natural Resources of the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece) where she teaches undergraduate- and master-level courses on environmental policy and governance, environmental sociology, environmental communication and mass media. Her research seeks to understand socio-environmental relationships through which immediate and implementable policy implications are provided. Her key areas of research include environmental policy, environmental governance, ecosocial relationships, environmental attitudes, environmental behaviours and practices, social acceptance of renewable energy sources, the social dynamics of energy transition and willingness-to-pay/invest in renewable energy and the conservation of flora and fauna species. Her work has been published in Energy Policy, Resources Policy, Journal of Rural Studies, Energy for Sustainable Development, Energy Efficiency, Sustainability, Energies and other
international peer-reviewed journals. She also serves as an Editorial Board Member for Humanities and Social Sciences Communications (Springer) and Social Sciences & Humanities Open (Elsevier), while she has been serving as a reviewer and guest editor for top-tier journals.
Prof. Spyros Galatsidas is a Professor at the Department of Forestry and Management of the Environment and Natural Resources, Democritus University of Thrace. He obtained his Diploma of Specialized Postgraduate Studies in Management of Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems and Master of Science in Environment and Renewable Resources from the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies, the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, Greece, in 1990 and 1995, respectively. Then, he earned his doctorate from the Forstwissenschaftliche Fakultät (today, Fakultät für Forst- und Umweltwissenschaften), Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in 2001. His research interests include the sustainable management of forest ecosystems, forest resources production planning, the inventory and analysis of forest ecosystems, the assessment and valuation of ecosystem services, database and GIS systems in forest management, geospatial analysis of natural resources, analysis of forest inventory data, the exploitation of forest biomass in energy production, and the certification of sustainable forest management.
Prof. Dr. Georgios Tsantopoulos is a professor at the Department of Forestry and Management of the Environment and Natural Resources, Democritus University of Thrace, Orestiada, Greece. He received his PhD from the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2000. His research interests are forest extension, environmental communication and public relations. He has written more than 160 papers in international journals, chapters in books, proceedings of international and national conferences, etc. He has also participated in 23 research programs financed by the European Union and National Funds.
