Dr. Mohieddine Jelali received his Dipl.-Ing.degree in Mechanical Engineering and Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D.) degree in Control Engineering, both from the University of Duisburg, Germany, in 1993 and 1997, respectively. He received a Venia Legendi (Post Doc/Habilitation) in Process Automation from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, in 2010. He is currently a Professor at TH Köln, University of Applied Sciences, Cologne, Germany, acting as the head of the Cologne Lab for Artificial Intelligence and Smart Automation (CAISA) and the director of the Institute of Product Development and Engineering Design. His research interests include advanced control of industrial processes and mechatronic systems, intelligent sensor systems, and artificial intelligence/machine learning. He has considerable experience in the iron and steel industry and in control applications in medical engineering, radar sensor systems, and smart farming. Dr. Jelali also founded and established the company ASINCO GmbH, Duisburg, Germany, as a leading developer for industrial radar and automation technology, where he acted as the Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer until December 2021. In 2024, he founded a new technology consulting company, DunYa Technologies GmbH. He has been involved in many nationally and EU-funded projects, as well as many projects supported by various industries. He has published three Springer books and is the author or co-author of more than 100 articles and monographs.
