Dr. Roberta Olmo Pinheiro is the Head of the Leprosy Laboratory (IOC/Fiocruz). She earned her master’s degree in science (biophysics) in 2000 and a Ph.D. in science (biophysics) in 2004, both from the Carlos Chagas Filho Institute of Biophysics (IBCCF/UFRJ). She is a member of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Society of Immunology (2024–2025). She also volunteers on the Science Appreciation Committee of the Health Science Core within the Mulheres do Brasil group. Her research interests include neuroimmunomodulation, neuroinflammation, and innate immune mechanisms associated with diseases caused by mycobacteria.
