Abdul Manan Sheikh received a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Visveswaraya Technological University—Belgaum, Karnataka state, India in 2003 and Master of Technology (M. Tech.) in Electronics Design and Technology from the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, Kerala, India in 2009. He is a lecturer at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, A 'Sharqiyah University—Oman. His research interests are edge computing, FPGAs, network security, privacy preservation, and applied cryptography. He is pursuing a Ph.D. with the Kulliyyah of Engineering at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Prof. Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka in 1987, and started his career as a lecturer at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology in 1988. He received his MSc and Ph.D both in Electrical Engineering from University of Technology Malaysia in 1996 and 2000, respectively. Prof. Islam is presently a Professor at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He coordinated to develop a new programme, Master of Science in Communication Engineering at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2005. Since 2001, he has successfully completed 16 research projects funded by MOSTI, MOHE, and IIUM. He was in the organizing committee for International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering ICCCE (1st–6th) and six international conferences since 2006. He was the technical chair of the 6th International Conference (ICCCE2016). He is currently working in Malaysia 5G Working Group under International Telecommunication Union and supervising several research projects to overcome the effects of Haze, Rain, Dust, and Fog on Free Space Optics (FSO) and Hybrid FSO/RF Systems. He is a Life Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (FIEB) and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Institute of Engineering Technology (IET).
Prof. Mohamed Hadi Habaebi, a graduate (1991) of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology High Institute, Tripoli-Libya, started his career as a Radio Engineer pacing gradually through several positions of senior RF and Microwave Engineer, Technical Manager, and finally CTO in several government and private companies working for the Telecom sector in Tripoli-Libya and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, throughout 1991–2003. He obtained the Master of Science (RF, Communications Engineering) from UTM in 1994 and Ph.D in Computer Communications Engineering from UPM in 2000. He was a visiting lecturer at UPM from 2000 to 2003 where he joined the Department of Computer Engineering, University of Tripoli-Libya, the same year and was an Associate Professor until 2011 heading the Students Affairs and Examination Unit for three consecutive years. He joined the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, IIUM, Gombak in 2011. He was the Post-Graduate Academic Advisor of the department since then until December 2017. He was the Head of Department since January 2018 until 30 June 2021. Throughout his academic career, he has consulted for the industry and often appointed as a technical consultant in several countries and holds several research grants.
Dr. Suriza Ahmad Zabidi graduated from George Washington University, Washington DC, USA and started her career as an Assistant Lecturer at Kulliyah of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia in 1996. She obtained the Bachelor of Science (Electrical Engineering) from George Washington University, Washington DC, USA, Master of Science (Computer and Information Engineering), and Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Communication Engineering from IIUM. Throughout her career in the university, she has served as an Academic Advisor and industrial training programmer coordinator. Currently, she is the final year project coordinator for communication engineering.
Adnan Kabbani received his B.Eng. degree from Damascus University in Syria, his M.Sc. degree from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, and his PhD from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) in Kingston, Canada in 2004. During his doctoral studies, he also worked as a senior engineer at CMC Microsystems in Kingston.
Dr. Kabbani began his academic career as an assistant professor at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada from 2004 to 2010. In 2010, he joined Al-Wadi University in Homs, Syria as an assistant professor, where he remained until 2013. Since September 2013, he has been with the College of Engineering at A’Sharqiyah University, Sultanate of Oman, where he currently holds the position of associate professor and Head of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department.
His research expertise encompasses CMOS design for low-power applications, neuromorphic computing, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy. He has authored and co-authored many technical papers at reputed indexed journals and conferences. He has secured multiple research grants from government bodies including Canadian Defense Research and
Development Board, NSERC, and MOHERI in Oman.
