Prof. Dr. Pierluigi Mazzei is currently an Associate Professor of Agricultural Chemistry at DIFARMA of the University of Salerno. He is a member of several and prestigious Italian and international scientific societies, such as the International Humic Substances Society (IHSS), Italian Society of Agricultural Chemistry (SICA), and the Interdivisional Group of Magnetic Resonances (GIDRM). Starting from 2007 to now, his main investigated research lines concern (i) soil organic matter (structural and conformational investigations using advanced analytical techniques, interaction studies with molecules of agrochemical interest, and the structure–activity relationship), (ii) NMR-based metabolomics to study the effects induced in plants and in agricultural products by either abiotic stress or experimental treatments, (iii) development of innovative hydrogels based on waste biomasses and exploitable for agriculture, and (iv) structural characterization and application of unknown and bioactive metabolites of microbial origin.
