Author Biographies

Cristiane Benetti is an associate professor at ICN Business School (France) where she was also responsible for the Finance and Accounting Department from 2013 to 2015. She is an expert in international accounting and international finance, areas in which she teaches and in which she pursues research at ICN. From 2007 to 2012, Cristiane Benetti worked as a professor of finance at FECAP (Brazilian Business School) where she created and implemented a continuous development strategy in the field of financial education for the general public. Outside of academic life, Cristiane Benetti has acted as a consultant to the Brazilian government. She has also worked in the financial (HSBC bank) and non-governmental (cultural NGO—Thiessen Pe urbaine) sectors. As an active entrepreneur, she has founded and co-founded three successful companies. Cristiane Benetti is recognized on the international academic conference circuit. In 2010, she received the AMBIMA Stock Market Award and, in 2012, the most prestigious recognition granted by the University of São Paulo—the Best Thesis Award in the Accounting Department. Cristiane Benetti obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from PUC/RS in 1996 and her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 2012, then her Master’s degree in Accounting from Unisinos in 2005, and finally her double Ph.D. from USP and the University of Grenoble in 2011.
José Monteiro Varanda Neto holds a Ph.D. in Macroeconomics from FGV-EESP, a Master’s degree in Economics from FGV-EESP, and a Master’s degree in Accounting and Corporate Finance from PUC-SP. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from FEA-USP and in Engineering from POLI-USP. He has built his career in national and international financial institutions, specializing in Risk and Capital Management and Quantitative Research for Treasury, Commercial Banking, Asset Management, and Brokerage. Additionally, he has experience in credit analysis for Project Finance and Wholesale Banking operations. He is an MBA professor at FGV and Fipe, teaching courses related to Financial Risk Management, Derivatives, Fixed Income, Equities, Portfolio Theory, Investment Fund Management, Computational Finance, Pension Funds (Investments, Governance, and Risk), and Macroeconomics. Currently, he serves as a member of the Sustainability, Risk, and Capital Committee reporting to the Board of Directors of Banco do Nordeste do Brasil S.A.
