Gonglian Dai received his bachelor’s degree in Bridge
Engineering from the Department of Civil Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong
University in 1985, and his doctorate degree in Bridge Engineering from the
Department of Civil Engineering of Changsha Railway Institute in 1997. He is
currently a director, professor, and doctoral supervisor within the Department of
Bridge Engineering of the School of Civil Engineering of Central South
University. His research interests include long-span bridge design theory and
high-speed railway bridge beam–rail interaction. He has been involved in the research
and development of a set of bridge structure spatial analysis and design
programs, as well as the design of the self-anchored suspension bridge of
the Sanchaji Bridge on the Second Ring Road of Changsha. He has also been involved in several key projects of the Ministry of Railways and natural fund projects
of the National Natural Science Foundation. He has won two first prizes in
Hunan Province Science and Technology Progress, one third prize in Guangdong
Province Science and Technology Progress, one first prize in Hunan Province
Excellent Design, one third prize in the National Excellent Design, one
Special Scientific Research Award from the Mao Yisheng Teaching and Research
Fund, and one Zhan Tianyou Youth Science and Technology Award. He has published
more than 100 papers and 4 academic monographs.
