Dr. Waldemar Augusto de Almeida Macedo is a Full
Researcher III of the National Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN), working at the
Center for Nuclear Technology Development (CDTN). He received a Bachelor of
Physics from the State University of Campinas in 1977, a Master in Nuclear
Technical Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 1983, and a
PhD in Physics from the University of Duisburg, Germany in 1988. He was a
visiting researcher at the University of California San Diego, USA. He was a
member of the scientific board of SBPMat from 2010 to 2014. He was the Director
of CDTN from October 2014 to December 2018. He has experience in the areas of
experimental condensed matter physics and materials science, working mainly on
the following topics: nanostructured magnetic materials, thin and ultrathin
films, surface physics, electron spectroscopy, Mössbauer spectroscopy and
hyperfine interactions, metals and alloys, nanoscience and nanotechnology.
