Rahim Darma is a distinguished professor of Agricultural Economics at Hasanuddin
University, Indonesia, specializing in food security, agribusiness, and rural
development. He has consulted for renowned organizations such as the Asia Foundation,
Swiss Contact, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank, focusing on MSME
development and sustainable agriculture. A visiting scholar at Alabama
Agricultural and Mechanical University in the USA (2009-2010), Dr. Darma has
authored numerous publications in leading national and international journals,
including Scopus-indexed works, reflecting his expertise in agricultural
socio-economics and sustainable development. He represented Indonesia in a
regional initiative for the genetic and socioeconomic improvement of common
carp in Asia (1997-2000) and has been a Senior Researcher and Trainer on
Resource Economics and Rural Development since 1998, collaborating with
Indonesia's National Planning Agency and Hasanuddin University's research center.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Hasanuddin University (1983), a master’s
in Resource Economics from Bogor Agricultural University (1987), and a
doctorate in Agricultural Economics from the University of the Philippines at

Patrick O’Connor is the Director
of the Centre for Global Food and Resources at the University of Adelaide and
Managing Director of O’Connor NRM, an environmental consultancy specializing in
natural resource management and environmental decision making. His research
focuses on designing and evaluating markets for ecosystem services, including
biodiversity conservation, carbon sequestration, and soil management. He has
played a key role in developing innovative land management contracts and
supporting farmers and landholders in adopting sustainable agricultural
practices. Patrick holds a Chinese Academy of Sciences President’s Fellowship
at the Institute of Urban Environments in Xiamen, China, and has received
several awards, including the South Australian Spatial Excellence Award. His
expertise extends to program evaluation, where he assesses environmental and
agricultural policies to enhance decision making. Beyond his research, Patrick
is passionate about scientific communication and co-authored Writing Scientific
Research Articles: Strategy and Steps, a widely used guide for researchers. His
work spans conservation science, agricultural sustainability, and scientific
capacity building, significantly contributing to research and policy development.
Dr. Rida Akzar is a Lecturer in Agricultural
Economics at the University of Adelaide’s Centre for Global Food and Resources.
He holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the
University of Adelaide and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bogor
Agricultural University, Indonesia. His research focuses on technology
adoption, rural economic development, and agricultural value chains,
particularly in Southeast Asia. Dr. Akzar has contributed to multiple
high-impact projects, including leading initiatives funded by the Australian
Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and securing significant
research grants for projects on dairy value chains, digital financial services,
and climate-smart agriculture. His research has been published in leading
journals, earning recognition for its impact, including a Top Downloaded
Article award in Agribusiness: An International Journal. Beyond his research,
Dr. Akzar is an active collaborator with institutions across Australia and
Southeast Asia, contributing to policy discussions and capacity-building
initiatives. He is a recipient of the Early Career Excellence SEPP Research
Award and the People’s Choice Award at the AARES Annual Conference. Committed
to fostering innovation, he also mentor’s students and integrates digital tools
into agricultural research and teaching.
Prof. Nixia Tenriawaru, born on
November 7, 1972, in Makassar, has been a dedicated academic at the Faculty of
Agriculture, Hasanuddin University, since 1997, achieving the rank of Professor
in 2024. She has served as Chair of the Department of Agricultural Social
Economics during 2019–2022 and was reappointed for the 2023–2026 term. Actively
involved in professional organizations such as PERHEPI (Indonesian Agricultural
Social Economic Association) and AAI (Indonesian Agribusiness Association),
Nixia contributes to advancing the field through her publications in reputable
national and international journals. She earned her bachelor’s degree in
Agriculture from Hasanuddin University (1996), her master’s in Agricultural
Economics from Bogor Agricultural University (2003), and her doctorate in
Agricultural Economics from Padjajaran University (2010).
Riri Amandaria, born
on June 2, 1987, in Pare-Pare, Riri Amandaria, is a sociology lecturer
specializing in community development. She earned her bachelor's degree in
Sociology from Hasanuddin University in Makassar in 2010, followed by a
master's degree in Community Development in 2014. From 2016 to 2021, Riri
served as an adjunct lecturer in the Sociology Department at Hasanuddin
University. She now shares her expertise as a lecturer at Universitas Negeri
Makassar, where she continues to inspire and educate future sociologists. As a
representative of the South Sulawesi chapter of the Indonesian Sociology
Association (Ikatan Sosiologi Indonesia), Riri actively fosters collaboration
and advances knowledge within the field. Her dedication extends beyond
academia, as she plays a significant role in rural community development
initiatives and sustainability efforts for Indonesia’s lakes, combining
research-driven insights with practical strategies to address critical social
and environmental issues.
