Kgomoangwato Paul Kruger Mavundla is a Doctoral Candidate in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Brasília. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Cape Town, where he graduated with distinction. His Master’s research focused on stormwater infiltration for groundwater augmentation using field testing, laboratory analysis, and finite element modeling. His current research investigates soil behavior under expander body pile loads through transparent soil experiments and numerical analysis. Paul has worked as a Bridge Engineer, Asset Management Consultant, and Engineering Geologist, specializing in geotechnical and structural analysis, infrastructure design, and finite element modeling. He is a registered Candidate Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), an Associate Member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE), and a certified Culvert Inspector with the Committee of Transport Officials (COTO). In addition to reviewing academic theses, he served as a scientific committee member for the 10th South African Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference (SAYGEC) from 2022 to 2023, reviewing journal papers in his field. His research interests include sustainable geotechnical solutions, advanced laboratory testing, and numerical modeling, contributing to both academia and industry.
