Dr. Jiaxu Shen is an assistant researcher at the College of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Beijing University of Technology. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the School of Civil Engineering, Tianjin University in 2017 and his Ph.D. from the School of Civil Engineering, Tongji University in 2022. Since August 2022, he has been a faculty postdoctoral fellow and an assistant researcher at Beijing University of Technology. He has presided over one National Natural Science Foundation project, published more than 30 SCI papers and more than 10 EI papers, published one monograph, and authorized one invention patent. He is a member of the Urban Lifeline Engineering Safety Professional Committee of the China Engineering Construction Standardization Association and a member of the Resilience Disaster Reduction and Emergency Response Professional Committee of the Chinese Geophysical Society. He is engaged in research on disaster prevention and mitigation issues in major urban projects for resilient city construction, including random load modeling and simulation, multi-scale structural damage assessment, and AI-enabled engineering structure dynamic analysis methods.
Dr. Mi Zhao is a professor at the College of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing, China. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Northeast Electric Power College (now Northeast Electric Power University) in 2001 and his master’s degree and Ph.D. from Beijing University of Technology in 2004 and 2009, respectively. Then, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University. In October 2011, he joined Beijing University of Technology. He has presided over key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and national 973 projects. He has published more than 200 academic papers and was included on the list of top 2% scientists in the world. He won the first prize of the China Transportation Association Science and Technology Progress Award as the first finisher and the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award as the main finisher. He also serves as vice president, deputy director, standing committee member, and member of secondary branches or special committees under national societies/associations, such as the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering and the Chinese Seismological Society. He is engaged in the research and development of soil-structure dynamic interaction analysis methods and software, as well as seismic resistance and vibration reduction research for major engineering structures, such as underground structures and nuclear power.
