Dr. Iván Peña-González is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sport Sciences, Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche, and a researcher at the Centre for Sport Research (CID) of the same university. He completed his PhD in Sport and Health at Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche in 2019. His research has been recognized with competitive funding, including national research grants and knowledge transfer contracts. He recently led projects on the effects of biological maturation on young athletes’ performance and performance assessment and enhancement in athletes with cerebral palsy and acquired brain injury. He has published 32 papers in various indexed journals (JCR and Scopus), with an h-index of 11 and over 460 citations. He serves as an editor for the European Journal of Human Movement and as a reviewer for scientific journals such as the International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance and Journal of Sports Sciences, as well as for research projects. His teaching disciplines include team sports, performance assessment, and new trends on training. His interests include the assessment and development of sports performance, para-sports, and talent identification and development in young athletes.
