Maciej Matczak obtained his Ph.D. (2004) and habilitation (2016) in Economics at the University of GdaĆsk (Poland). Since 2005, he has been working at the Gdynia Maritime University (Poland) as an assistant professor, associate professor and, from 2016 to 2019, Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Development. In 2019, he was promoted to Director of the Maritime Institute (Poland). In 2023-2024, he was employed as the Director of Research and Development at the Polish Register of Shipping. He currently holds the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Logistics and Transport Systems of Gdynia Maritime University. In the years 2004-2016, he also worked as a Senior Consultant and Head of the Consulting Department at Actia Forum from Gdynia (Poland). He is an experienced member of research projects, in European framework and regional programs, an author of scientific publications, reports and market expertise for the transport and energy sectors and an evaluator of research projects, both at the national and European level (TEN-T, CEF, Horizon). His scientific interests focus on the functioning of markets with evolution of their competitive structures. He conducts research on sectoral policies, including decarbonization and energy
transformation, deals with development processes, especially in sea ports and the offshore wind industry, and engages in market forecasting, important in the process of preparing infrastructure investment projects.
