Antonio Jamie Castro is an Associate Professor of Social Studies Education in the Department of Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum at the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, USA. He received a BA from Southwestern University in 1997, followed by an M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002 and 2009, respectively. His research interests focus on preparing teachers for culturally diverse contexts and urban schools, with particular attention to teaching critical multicultural citizenship, democratic teacher education, and practices that promote equity and social justice.
