Dr. Ioannis Politis is a Professor of Nutritional and Lactation Physiology in the Department of Animal Science at the Agricultural University of Athens. He obtained his Ph.D. in 1989 from McGill University in Canada. He was a Research Associate in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science at the University of Guelph in Canada between1989 and 1990, at Cornell University (Department of Animal Science) between 1990 and 1993, and later as an Assistant Professor in a tenured track position in the Department of Animal and Food Science at the University of Vermont between 1993 and 1996. His research focuses on relationships between nutrients and immune function, biologically active peptides with emphasis on those with anti-hypertensive and immunoregulatory properties, and lactation physiology.
