Rayya A. Al-Balushi was born and brought up in A’Sharqiyah, Oman. She received her Ph.D. from the Sultan Qaboos University, Oman (2016). Dr. Al Balushi received the best Ph.D. thesis award from Sultan Qaboos University in 2017, best researcher award from ASU in 2019 and an honorary award for =research achievements in the field of chemistry at the Third Arab Female Innovators Forum in 2024. She has published more than 42 refereed research papers, conference proceedings, and book chapters. Dr. Al Balushi is currently an associate professor and Head of Department of Basic and Applied Sciences at A’Sharqiyah University (ASU), Oman. Her research interests include designing conjugated polymers for photo-switch, photovoltaic, and LED applications.
Dr. Serajul Haque Faizi obtained his Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India in 2013. He joined as Visiting Professor in Department of Chemistry, College of Science Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman in 2015. He
has also served as guest faculty in the Department of Chemistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (Central University), New Delhi, India in 2017. He has also been a research associate at JNU New Delhi. He has been working as an Assistant Professor in the PG Department of Chemistry, Langat Singh College (A constituent unit of B.R.A. Bihar University) Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India, since 2017. He has published over 95 research papers in national and international journals of repute in the area of organic synthesis and structural Chemistry. Dr. Faizi has participated and delivered invited lectures at various national and international symposia. He has also delivered many lectures as the resource person on single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. Dr. Faizi is a life member of several national and international professional societies. His research interest includes the design and synthesis of heterocyclic compounds and their application as chemo- and biosensors. He is also interested in molecular
modelling and computational chemistry. Dr Faizi was awarded the best researcher award from the Vice Chancellor of BRA, Bihar University, Bihar, India.
Dr. Md. Mushtaque received his Ph.D degree in Chemistry from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in 2014. He worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, School of Physical and molecular sciences, Al-Falah University for the period 2014-2022. Presently, he has been working as Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry at Millat college, LNMU,
Darbhanga Bihar, India since 2023 to till date. He was awarded one of the most prestigious fellowships of India “Indian Overseas
postdoctoral fellowships” by SERB, govt. of India in 2015 and did his post-doctorate with Professor Stephen Husbands at the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, University of Bath, United Kingdom. Dr. Mushtaque focuses on the development of novel heterocyclic compounds and their biological evaluations (anti-protozoal and anti-cancer) activities and computational studies (molecular docking, MD-simulation, and quantum chemical studies (DFT).
Dr. Idris Juma Al-Busaidi is a researcher with a deep interest in material sciences, particularly focusing on platinum compounds, actinides, and copper. He completed his undergraduate to doctoral studies at Sultan Qaboos University, where he earned his Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Mohammad Salahuddin Khan. His research interests extend to physical chemistry and
electrochemistry, areas in which he has made significant contributions through his scientific work. Dr. Al-Busaidi has a strong passion for advancing knowledge in the field of materials chemistry, exploring the fundamental
properties and applications of various chemical compounds. His work is characterized by a rigorous approach to understanding the interplay between chemical structure and electronic properties, with a particular emphasis on sustainable energy solutions and novel materials for technological innovations.
Prof. Muhammad S. Khan was an 1851 Exhibition Scholar and received his Ph.D. in 1983 from the University of
Cambridge, U.K. Currently he is a Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman. Formerly he was a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, a Visiting Professor in the
Department of Chemistry, University of Bath and the University Chemical Laboratory, University of Cambridge (UK), and a Visiting Fellow in the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge. Prof. Khan has received many medals and awards, notably, the H.P. Ray Gold Medal of the University of Dhaka (1986), Junior Gold Medal of the Bangladesh Academy of Science (1994), the Best Researcher Award, College of Science, SQU (2005, 2017), the National Research Award, The Research Council, Oman (2018), and the Most Active Research Group Award, Deanship of Research, SQU (2020). His research interests include the
design and development of novel functional materials such as conjugated organic and organometallic polymers, metal organic frameworks and lanthanide coordination complexes for sustainable energy applications. Prof. Khan is the Editor-in-Chief of the SQU Journal for Science and an Editorial Board Member of the MDPI journal Polymers. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
