Wu-Chun Cao, is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He is the chief expert at the Academy of Military Science and the director of the State Key Laboratory of Pathogen and Biosecurity. He has been selected for the National Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talent Project and awarded the title of "National Outstanding Middle-aged and Young Experts" and technological leading talent. He has received several prestigious awards, including the National Award for Excellence in Innovation, the Wu Jieping-Paul Janssen Medicine and Pharmaceutical Science Award, the Military Outstanding Professional and Technical Talent Award, the Public Health and Preventive Medicine Development Contribution Award, and recognition as an advanced individual in the national fight against COVID-19. He has published papers in top SCI journals such as Nature, Cell, New England Journal of Medicine, BMJ, Lancet Infectious Diseases, and Nature Microbiology, and has been continuously selected for the list of Highly Cited Researchers in China. As the first contributor, he was awarded the First Class Prize of the State Science and Technology Progress Award and the Second Class Prize of the State Natural Science Award of China.
