Dr. Yoon-Sung Choi is a Visiting Professor at Hongik University and a Lecturer in the Department of Earth Science Education at Pusan National University and the Department of Science Education at Cheongju National University of Education. He earned his Ph.D. in Earth Science (Geoscience) Education from Seoul National University, Republic of Korea. His research focuses on geoscience education, virtual learning environments, and the application of artificial intelligence in Earth science instruction. He has actively developed and analyzed VR-based Virtual Field Trips (VFTs) to enhance experiential learning, integrating Kolb’s Experiential Learning Model. His recent work explores the epistemic agency of preservice teachers in AI-assisted Earth science education and the validity of ChatGPT-generated scientific responses. Dr. Choi is particularly interested in using generative artificial intelligence in Earth science education and its implications for teaching and learning. He has published 26 research papers in domestic and international peer-reviewed journals and has presented at international conferences on Asia-Pacific Science Education in Korea. He continues to teach undergraduate and preservice teacher courses in Earth science education while actively contributing to professional societies.
