Matthew B Cooke is a teaching and researching academic with over 16 years of experience in academia. He is a registered nutritionist, and as an integrative physiologist and nutrition researcher, his work is grounded in real-world situations to provide evidence-based information for the recommendation of nutrition and/or dietary supplementation to improve health, performance and/or recovery in a variety of populations ranging from the young and healthy to older and/or those with lifestyle disease. Further, his work also explores the biological mechanisms, from molecular to gut microbiome, that might underpin such changes in health, performance and recovery. Prof Cooke has received over two million in funding from both government grants and industry and is currently project director within the Australian Institute for Musculoskeletal Science (AIMSS) and academic chair for the Human Performance Research Network within the Australian Defence Force. Prof Cooke is also a passionate teacher and has been course director at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
