Prof. Dr. Manfredi Tesauro is a full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He obtained his medical degree in 1995 from the University Medical School in Palermo and completed his fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolic Disease in 2000 at the University of Tor Vergata. From 1998 to 2002 he was Visiting Fellow of the National Institutes of Health, Pulmonary–Critical Care Medicine Branch, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, United States, to investigate the mechanisms leading to vascular damage in conditions associated with increased atherosclerotic risk. Since 2002, he has served as a Clinical Investigator at the Department of Internal Medicine of Tor Vergata University. He has been the recipient of several awards and grants. He is a member of many scientific societies and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals. His main research interest over the last decade has focused on the investigation of the pathophysiological mechanisms of endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis in patients with diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome. He has authored several publications in top-ranked peer-reviewed journals including Circulation, Hypertension, Diabetes, Diabetes Care, PNAS, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, etc.
