Author Biographies

Diego Rorato Fogaça is a PhD candidate in Engineering Management at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), Spain, and in Industrial Engineering at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), Brazil. He is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Urbanism, and Geography at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (FAENG/UFMS), Brazil, where he primarily teaches and conducts research in the Industrial Engineering program. He holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Production Engineering from the São Carlos School of Engineering, University of São Paulo (EESC/USP). He was a Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) in Florence, Italy, and at the Faculty of Engineering at University of Beira Interior (UBI) in Portugal. His research interests include Industry 4.0/5.0, organizational theory, quality management, organizational culture, and institutional theory.
Mercedes Grijalvo Martín is an Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), specializing in industrial engineering. She holds an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Industrial Organization Engineering from the Carlos III University of Madrid. Additionally, she earned an Executive MBA from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Before joining UPM, she was a faculty member at the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M) from 2000 to 2011. She has also been a Visiting Scholar at the Centre de Recherche en Gestion of École Polytechnique (Paris, France) and Southern Illinois University Carbondale (USA). Beyond academia, she has worked as a quality consultant at NOVOTEC Consultores. Her research interests focus on innovation and business strategy, Industry 4.0, and new organizational forms.
Mário Sacomano Neto is an Associate Professor of Organizational Studies at the Federal University of Sao Carlos, Brazil. He holds a Bachelor's in Management from Pontifical Catholic University, a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the Federal University of Sao Carlos, and a Master's in Industrial Engineering from the University of São Paulo. He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley under the supervision of Neil Fligstein (Department of Sociology), and a Visiting Scholar at the University of Chicago (USA) under the supervision of Professor Gary Herrigel (Political Science Department). His topics of interest include organizational analysis, economic sociology, institutions, and social fields.
