Elkin Galeano is an academic and researcher at the University of Antioquia, Colombia; he is affiliated with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical and Food Sciences. He holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, a Master's in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical and Food Sciences. Dr. Galeano’s research focuses on natural products chemistry, toxicology, and bioactivity studies, with a particular emphasis on the chemistry of bromotyrosines and metabolomics by NMR. His recent work has explored the bioactive properties of bromotyrosines, compounds derived from marine organisms such as sponges, highlighting their potential antimicrobial, antiparasitic, and anticancer applications. In the field of metabolomics, Dr. Galeano has advanced the understanding of metabolic changes associated with biological and pathological processes. His international collaborations include studies on metabolomics profiling of cacao extracts, leveraging advanced technologies to uncover novel bioactive compounds, as well as human deseases prognosis by NMR.
