Author Biographies

Dr. Leandro de Lorenco-Lima earned a BS in Physical Education (2008) from Facultades Metropolitanas Unidas (Brazil), an MS in Human Movement Sciences from Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul (Brazil), and a Ph.D. in Psychology (2024) from Liberty University (USA). His work in the fields of psychology and exercise physiology has resulted in over 20 publications and presentations. His current research interests include combat sports, martial arts, and sports psychology.
Dr. Stacey Gaines received her Ph.D. in Health & Kinesiology from Purdue University in 2010. She was an Associate Professor and Associate Department Chair at Texas A&M Kingsville from 2008-2016, an Associate Adjunct Professor at Purdue University from 2016-2020, and is now an Adjunct Professor at Liberty University.  Her research topics broadly include character development and motivation in sport, with particular emphasis in understanding the roles of moral disengagement and peer relationships.
Dr. Elisabeth Waterbury received a BS in Psychology (2011) from Liberty University and a Ph.D. in Assessment and Measurement from James Madison University in May 2018. She is an adjunct faculty member for Liberty University. Her research topics mainly include the use of statistical methodology in psychological research.
