Author Biographies

Nikol A. Obradovic is a research associate at Etalon Diagnostics in Redwood City, CA. She graduated from Millikin University in 2023, earning her B.S. in biology and minors in chemistry and mathematics. While working toward her bachelor's degree, Nikol completed a summer internship at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, working as a laboratory assistant in the Su Research Group. Her work contributed to a research project which aimed to synthesize Cu-Ni hexacyanoferrate particles for selective ammonium removal. For her undergraduate senior research, Nikol utilized high performance liquid chromatography to perform quantitative analysis of active pharmaceutical ingredient concentration in potentially substandard amoxicillin capsules from Kenya and Malawi. Since beginning her career at ETALON, Nikol has gained experience performing DNA extraction on animal hair, saliva, whole blood, and tissue samples. Following extraction, she prepares pooled hybrid capture libraries for sequencing and loads these libraries onto a NextSeq 1000 sequencing system. Nikol's current research interests include studying the genetics of complex traits and gene regulatory networks in mammalian health and disease susceptibility.
