Dr. Wangxi Zhang is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Construction Engineering, College of Civil Engineering, Hunan University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering mechanics from the Department of Engineering Mechanics of Hunan University, and master’s and doctoral degrees in structural engineering from the School of Civil Engineering of Hunan University. His research areas include earthquake resistance and collapse prevention analysis of concrete and masonry structures; structural reliability analysis, detection, identification and reinforcement, and transformation; interaction between foundation and superstructure; and theory and application of prefabricated concrete structures. He is a member of the expert group of the Engineering Renovation and Reinforcement Branch of the China Building Energy Conservation Association, a member of the second session of the Building Structure Anti-collapse Professional Committee of the Earthquake and Disaster Prevention Branch of the China Architecture Society, an expert in the Hunan Province Construction Safety Technology Expert Database, and a safety supervision expert of the Hunan Province Work Safety Committee. He has undertaken 18 scientific research projects and 19 teaching and research projects. He has published more than 50 scientific research papers in Chinese and English. He has written five textbooks and two monographs.
