Author Biographies

Dr. DSc, Eng. Tomasz Trawiński, Prof. PŚ, is the Head of the Department of Mechatronics and the CEO of “Innovations of the Silesian University of Technology”. He earned his Ph.D. in 2000 and his habilitation degree in 2011 at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland. Over the past five years, he has conducted extensive research on issues primarily related to electromechanical transducers used in biomedical engineering, applying homogeneous transformations in energy recovery systems, electrical energy storage systems, power electronic conditioners, torque converters. He is also engaged in mathematical methods for inverting block matrices. He is the author and co-author of 5 monographs, 5 patent applications, and 4 patents, as well as the author and co-author of 193 scientific articles. He has led 4 research grants from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and participated as a contractor in 2 grants. He was also a contractor for one grant under the 7th EU Framework Programme and served as the university coordinator for the Information Driven Incident Response project under the Coal and Steel Fund (EU). He is an expert in the Mechatronics Section of the Machine Design Committee and a member of the Metrology Commission of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN). He served as Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education from 2016 to 2019 and Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Promotion from 2019 to 2024 at the Silesian University of Technology.
