Dr. Manuel Alonzo Báez-Sañudo is currently a professor and researcher at the Center for Research in Food and Development (CIAD) in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, with more than 30 years of professional work with emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Sonora in 1989, and his Master of Science from the Center for Research in Food and Development (CIAD) in 2001. His research areas are related to the physiology, quality, and postharvest handling of tropical and subtropical fruits and vegetables, as well as issues related to food safety in the implementation of good agricultural practices in the primary production of vegetables, and he is also developing research projects on vegetable production in protected environments. Furthermore, he was a Professor in Master's and Bachelor's programs in fruit and vegetable quality control issues and agribusiness projects. He is closely linked to the agricultural sector as an advisor. He was an invited lecturer and professor of courses on food safety, postharvest management, and protected agriculture. His research lines include physiology, the postharvest management of horticultural crops, Food Safety in agricultural packaging and food processing plants with the implementation of HACCP programs, Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the development and implementation of research projects in protected agriculture.
