Author Biographies

Eva Klemenčič Mirazchiyski is a research councillor and head of the Centre for Applied Epistemology at the Educational Research Institute (ERI), Slovenia, where she has been employed since 2005. She received her PhD in 2011 from the Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis in Ljubljana (Slovenia). She is a national research coordinator of four international comparative studies (PIRLS, REDS, ICILS, and ICCS). She is the national representative of Slovenia in the General Assembly of the IEA. She is also an associate professor in Sociology and Sociology of Education at two faculties in Slovenia and one abroad. Her main research areas are international large-scale student assessments, citizenship education, and the sociology of education. She is involved in several EU programs as an external expert. Recently, she co-authored a scientific article that was conferred an award of excellence for social sciences–education for the year 2019 by a national agency (ARRS). She is a member of several professional societies, including CIES.
Plamen Vladkov Mirazchiyski is employed as a research fellow at the Educational Research Institute (ERI, Slovenia) and as an assistant professor at Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI). He is also the founder and director of the International Educational Research and Evaluation Institute (Slovenia). He received his PhD in 2008 from Sofia University (Bulgaria). He has been employed at the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) for more than eight years and served as deputy head of the Research and Analysis Unit (RANDA) for the last three years of his employment. His previous research interests were in didactics and the psychological well-being of school students. His current interests are in large-scale assessments, research methodology, statistics, psychometrics, computer and information literacy, and reading literacy. Together with Dr. Eva Klemenčič, he received the 2019 and 2024 “Excellence in Science” awards from the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS) for social sciences research articles. Plamen is also the author of the R Analyzer for Large-Scale Assessments software package.
