Author Biographies

Muhammad Aleem Ashraf is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Biosciences and Technology, Faculty of Sciences, Emerson University, Multan, since February 2024. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, University of the Punjab (2008-2014), and completed his Ph.D. Research Training from The University of Arizona, Tucson, USA (2012). After PhD graduation, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Insect Sciences, College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Zhejiang University (2015–2016), an Assistant Professor at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan (2017–2018), an Associate Researcher at the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Haikou (2018-2019) and an Assistant Professor at the Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology (2020–2024). His research interests include Microbial Forensics, DNA profiling, Forensic Biology, Forensic Pathology, Biosecurity, Computational Biology, Reverse Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Gene Expression and Genetically Modified Organisms.

Prof. Dr. Naitong Yu serves as the Principal Investigator of the Tropical Plant Virus Resources and Utilization Research Group, and Deputy Director of the Microbiology Center at the Institute of Tropical Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences. He possesses extensive expertise in the diagnosis and detection of viral pathogens in plants and aquatic organisms, virus-host interactions, antiviral molecular breeding, and antiviral vaccine development. Prof. Yu is a Young Editorial Board Member for the journals “New Plant Protection” and “Guangdong Agricultural Science (In Chinese)”, and he is also a member of the American Phytopathological Society (APS), the China Society of Plant Protection (CSPP), and a permanent member of the Chinese Society of Agri-Biotechnology (SCAB). He has led over ten national and provincial research projects and participated in four major national initiatives. Prof. Yu has authored or co-authored more than 100 academic papers, including 51 papers as the first or corresponding author, published four books, and holds 11 Chinese invention patents, one Dutch invention patent, and two Australian patents. He was awarded a third prize in the Hainan Science and Technology Progress Award.
